Verify that you have at least 9 Megabytes of free disk space available under the "/usr" file system. You can check this by logging on as "root" and running the "sysadm" program.
Select option #3, "file management menu", and then select suboption #3, "diskuse." The number of "Free Blocks" shows how much space is available under the /usr file system.
Note: 1 block = 512 bytes
If you have sufficient disk space, login to the system as "root." Create a Unix subdirectory named "sage" under the "/usr" directory.
Note: In the following examples, <RETURN> means press the carriage return key once.
Example:
cd /usr <RETURN>
mkdir sage <RETURN>
Extract the Sage-ST TM libraries and support files from the 5.25" tape by "tar"ing the files to disk. Enter the following command:
tar xvff /dev/rSA/qtape1 <RETURN>
You should see the Sage-ST TM libraries being transferred to disk. After the tape rewinds, remove it from the drive.
The MSDOS "D2A.EXE" program is found in "/usr/sage/bin/d2a.dir." Refer to the /usr/sage/bin/d2a.dir/README.d2a file for instructions on moving D2A.EXE to your PC(s).
On some Sage-ST TM distributions, D2A.EXE is also supplied on a 360 Kb (MSDOS formatted) floppy disk.
The installation is now complete. Take a break, then proceed to the "Creating A User Application Library" section.
