VERSION DIFFERENCES

Sage-ST TM 4.1 represents significant changes and enhancements from the previous release (3.2.2). Due to the nature of these changes, existing DFLs and EXEs must be recompiled and data rebuilt.

One of the most obvious changes to the ADS is the inclusion of graphics capabilities. Several new packages have been implemented, from a low-level GKS-standard package to a high-level graphics display package that makes creating and displaying a graph almost as easy as creating and displaying a simple form. A new Graphics Manual and Tutorial covers how to use these packages. The THOR Manual now includes a section on creating graphs within THOR. Other major changes include:

Predefined keyboard definitions--specify special exits and other key functions in THOR at the time a form is created. Takes the place of Display.DefineFunctionKey.

HyperTxt package--very useful for online user manuals.

SQL--an embedded interface, as well as the interactive processor.

DBLoad--assists in loading/unloading data from/to DBMS's. Five standard formats are supported.

Full mouse support within the THOR forms editor.

UserHelp/HelpLib--added flexibility in providing online help for users.

Fully supported on the Meridian DOS Ada compiler.

For those people who may be receiving their first Sage-ST TM upgrade in several years, enhancements since version 3.1 have included:

Full multi-user capabilities and a system administrator tool called MONITOR.

All forms procedures in the Sage package removed and placed in a package called Display.

A random number generator package.

ModSys types for greater portability.

Large system support: subschemas, UpdLib, and a dynamic configuration tool called CONFIGUR.

Transaction logging.

Optimization procedures and packages including ProcessDelete and SageOpt.

A new procedure for designing user interfaces called ScrollForm.
